ZSOUND Stage Audio Elevates Outdoor Sound at the 2025 Poyang Lake Music Carnival

June 21, 2025 — In the heart of Jiangxi province, near the shimmering waters of Poyang Lake, music lovers from across the country gathered under the open sky for a festival that brought both nature and performance into perfect harmony. With a lineup of powerhouse artists and a crowd that stretched as far as the eye could see, delivering reliable, immersive sound in an outdoor environment was no small feat. For this ambitious production, ZSOUND was the name behind the sound.

Sound Designed for the Outdoors

In large-scale open-air shows, the challenge isn’t just loudness—it’s control, clarity, and reach. To cover such an expansive site, the audio team deployed two flown arrays of 16× LA212 line array speakers per side. Each enclosure features dual 12 inch line array speaker, purpose-built to deliver balanced mids and punchy highs over long distances without losing detail or color.

Outfill coverage was managed using 12× VCL units on either side—also dual 12-inch systems—which expanded the horizontal reach without introducing phase issues or overlap in the listening zones.

In the front zones where coverage is often the trickiest, a total of 12 LA110 speakers (6 positions with 2 per stack) handled near-field detail. Compact but powerful, these 10-inch line array modules added presence and clarity for fans closest to the stage without obstructing sightlines or stage visuals.

As the crowd pushed further back, four delay arrays—each comprising 4× LA212 cabinets—kept the sonic image consistent, ensuring everyone, even at the rear, experienced the same punch and fidelity as those at the front.

A Foundation That Moved the Ground

For the low end, 24 SS2 subwoofers with dual 18-inch drivers were spread in a spaced arc pattern, helping to distribute bass smoothly without creating hot spots. Onstage, 12 M15 monitors, each built with a 15-inch driver, provided clean, powerful monitoring for performers, doubling when needed as localized reinforcement.

Engineered in the Field

Setup began at sunrise. The sound team navigated uneven ground, wind considerations, and limited rigging time. Arrays were hoisted using manual lifts with pre-measured splay angles, based on terrain modeling and predicted crowd layout. Rigging tolerances were fine-tuned on site—no room for error when working with open-air acoustics.

System calibration followed quickly. Instead of chasing volume, the tuning team chased balance: enough gain to excite the air, but still allow every vocal nuance and instrument texture to shine through.

From dusk to nightfall, the system delivered. Vocal lines soared. Basslines shook the field. Crowd cheers met crystal-clear response. The sound wasn’t just powerful—it felt alive, wrapping the audience in an audio landscape as natural as the lake itself.

A member of the organizing crew summed it up best:

“ZSOUND didn’t just provide speakers—they brought space to life.”
