Measure, Rig, Tune: Smaart Training in Thailand with the ZSOUND LC12
From Sisaket in January 2023 to Udon Thani in October 2024 — two Smaart training classes, one compact LC12 system, and a roomful of engineers learning to trust their measurements.
A measurement training class lives or dies by the sound system it runs on. If the loudspeakers color the measurement, every transfer function on screen becomes an argument instead of an answer. That is why the Smaart training classes held in Thailand — first in Sisaket in January 2023, then at ZSOUND TRAINING 2024 in Udon Thani that October — were built on the ZSOUND LC12 line array system: a box clean enough to teach with, and quick enough to keep the day moving.
Sisaket, January 2023: The First Class
The Smaart training class held in Sisaket on January 15, 2023 ran entirely on a ZSOUND LC12 sound system. The organizers’ verdict afterwards said it plainly: the LC12 provided clear and powerful sound that made the class experience even more enjoyable, it was easy to set up, and its range of rigging options made it the perfect choice for the event. For a training class that reconfigures its loudspeaker setup between exercises, that last point matters more than any spec sheet — less time rigging means more time measuring.
Udon Thani, October 2024: ZSOUND TRAINING 2024
The program returned that autumn with ZSOUND TRAINING 2024, held October 4–5 in Udon Thani and taught under the Smaart v8 banner. The class graduated a new cohort of engineers — many of them wearing ZSOUND training shirts and, in the group photo, giving the thumbs-up that says the two days delivered. Special thanks go to the ZSOUND team on site for their support, and to the local organizers who keep bringing measurement-based system tuning to Thailand’s audio community.

The course ran the full arc of measurement-based tuning. Mornings covered basic acoustic theories — summation, coverage, and the behavior of line arrays. From there, participants moved to line array sound system rigging and alignment, flying and configuring the LC12 hang themselves. System simulations came next, with EASE Focus used to predict coverage before a single cable was connected. Finally, everything was verified live: measuring the real system with SmaartLive software, comparing predictions against transfer functions, and making alignment decisions from data rather than habit. All practice, all aimed at real-world applications — as the organizers put it, perfect.

The LC12 earns its role as a teaching platform on substance. It is a compact two-way line array element with a 12-inch woofer and a 3-inch compression driver, rated to 148 dB peak, with a frequency response of 70 Hz–16 kHz (±3dB). In a class that lives on measurements, its honest, predictable behavior is the point: what students see in Smaart is what the box is actually doing. Easy to fly, fast to re-configure, and clean enough to make every exercise trustworthy — that is what makes it the natural choice for Smaart training, in Thailand and beyond.
What Graduates Took Home
Certificates matter, but the real takeaway from both classes is method. The engineers who left Sisaket and Udon Thani did not just learn which buttons Smaart has — they learned a workflow: predict the system in EASE Focus, deploy it with correct rigging and alignment, verify it with live measurement, and let the data arbitrate every decision. That workflow is now running on real events across Thailand, carried by the people who practiced it in class. It is also a vote of confidence in the toolchain: when a class’s measurements are made through an LC12 system and the predictions match what the microphone hears, students stop doubting their instruments and start trusting their ears-and-data instincts. The organizers’ closing note said it best — the LC12 provided clear and powerful sound that made the class experience even more enjoyable, and they look forward to using it in future events. Two classes, two cohorts of graduates, and a growing Thai community of measurement-driven engineers: the program is doing exactly what ZSOUND training has done since 2009, turning great hardware into confident operators.
