Line Array Speaker Deployment for an Indoor Hip-Hop Concert in Hangzhou
Line Array Speaker Deployment in a Large Indoor Gymnasium
On December 20, the “We See Ya” hip-hop concert was held at Hangzhou Canal Sports Park Gymnasium, an indoor venue commonly used for sports and live entertainment events. The show featured four hip-hop artists performing continuously for nearly three hours, placing sustained demands on system stability, vocal clarity, and low-frequency control.
From a system engineering perspective, this project focused on line array speaker deployment rather than maximum output alone. The objective was to achieve consistent coverage across the audience area while maintaining intelligibility for fast-paced vocals and rhythm-heavy music in a reflective indoor environment.

ZSOUND Equipements:
The entire sound reinforcement system was supplied by ZSOUND and configured to address the venue’s width, audience depth, and stage layout through a multi-zone approach.
The main PA system utilized VCX dual 14-inch line array cabinets, flown to cover the central audience area. Array positioning prioritized even sound pressure distribution and stable mid-high response over long throw distances.
To support coverage at the sides of the venue, additional VCX dual 14-inch line array units were deployed as side fills. This helped reduce level drop-off at the outer seating areas and minimized tonal imbalance across the room.
For near-field reinforcement, LA110 single 10-inch line array speakers were used as front fill, supporting vocal presence for the front rows without overwhelming the main system.

Low-frequency energy was provided by S21P single 21-inch subwoofers, delivering sufficient headroom for hip-hop bass content while maintaining control suitable for an enclosed gymnasium.

On stage, performers monitored through CP15M single 15-inch stage monitors, offering reliable reference levels and consistent performance throughout extended sets.

The system delivered clear vocal articulation, controlled low-frequency impact, and stable performance throughout the event. This project demonstrates how practical line array speaker deployment supports reliable results in indoor concert environments with high dynamic demands.
